Like with any raw material you work with, there’s always some little bits and pieces that come off. So, for those who like natural random surfaces for your bases, here are some half-ounce bags of black walnut bits. Imagine some icy spikes sticking up from a tundra or some shale rocks for your hero to stand on triumphantly. These are unfinished bits so some splinters and splits might be sticking out.
This piece of black walnut was found on a beach on Seneca Lake and had been quite bleached by the sun and water. A passenger mushroom is attached at one end. Both were treated to teak oil and the resulting piece is quite striking. The mushroom turned a rich black and the wood returned to a medium brown. At 5.25 inches long you can easily add a nature spirit and a nymph to the piece or a forest dragon. The piece is 1.5 inches wide along the wood and the mushroom measures 2 inches at its widest and 1.5 inches at its narrowest. At just under an inch in height it will look great with some grippli sitting atop it. (133mm x 60mm x 22mm)
