    Burl, Plinth, Oak, “Rocky”

    This piece is 2/3rds of a burl from an oak.  It grew on the surface of the tree and didn’t require cutting.  However, to make a display from the piece it was cut into 2 pieces.  This one resembles a rock outcropping or cliff edge.  With a foot print of 3.5 inches around and a height of 3 inches (89mm around by 76mm) this big guy will make a triumphant display for your hero or monster.  There room for a tail to curl around the outside.

    Plinth with “Fairy Door”, Honeysuckle

    This honeysuckle plinth has a “fairy door” on one side.   The “door” is created by a grown over branch collar.  Much of the bark has come away from the strain of the honeysuckle’s twisted limb.  The plinth is 2.5 inches by 2 inches around at the top, 2.75 inches by 2.625 inches at the bottom and 2.5 inches tall.  (70mm x 67mm x 64mm overall).  This could be the home of your gnome, halfling or other fey character.  A bard sitting atop the pieces playing a melody would be cool but that’s very specific.

    Plinth with Burl, Honeysuckle

    This plinth has a burl about midway and is made from a honeysuckle twisted limb.  The bark came away and left a really interesting display base.  Imagine your dragon or smilodon creeping down from the top along the gnarled burl.  The plinth is 2.25 inches around at the top and 3 inches by 2.25 inches around at the base.  The whole thing is 4.75 inches tall.  (95mmm x 57mm x 121mm overall)

    Plinth, Austrian Pine

    Austrian Pine is one of the less used Christmas Trees species here in New York but this plinth is made from it.  The bark is almost shiny by itself but the finish added a real nice polish to the variegated colors of the bark.

    This base has all the potential for a stunning display piece at 3 inches tall and approximately 2.75 inches around (76mm x 70mm).

    Consider combining this monolithic version with two more progressively smaller ones for a trilogy of a character’s career like the old Ral Partha level up characters.

    This short plinth measures only one inch in height (26mm) and is approximately 2.8 inches in diameter (72mm).

    The reddish tone makes it a dark piece and a notch in the bark may imply a water feature or creeping vines but don’t let us design your piece.  Just let your imagination go.

    This cottonwood plinth has a cool twist to the bark as you turn it.  At about 3 inches around and 2.25 inches tall, this plinth is perfect for a small scene at the top (76mm around by 57mm tall).  The bark looks like rock-face already.

    Plinth, Oak, “Demon Stand”

    The insect riddled exterior of this plinth is stained with Reaper’s Spattered Gore.  The “worm tracks” and texture of the exterior are washed with Reaper’s Walnut Brown.  The lighter sections are where the bark used to be and thus it wasn’t weathered like the rest of the branch.  Those sections are outlined with a black glaze to increase the contrast between the sections.  At nearly 3 inches tall and a little over 1.5 inches around (41mm round x 73mm tall) this base could house a baleful demon or arch devil a little freehand painted summoning circle at the top could complete the look.

    Plinth, Ornamental Cherry

    This monolithic sized plinth is made from ornamental cherry and is covered with bark sporting bright lichen.  The whole piece is treated with teak oil and the ends are polished nicely.  The oddly shaped ends have some slight burl to them.  One end is 4 inches long by 3 inches wide and the other end is 4.25 inches long and 3 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall (83mm round x 51mm high), this plinth is befitting a dragon or great forest beast.
